Navy Uses WillCo’s IASTAR® to Identify IA Workforce

United States Navy Subcontracts WillCo’s IASTAR® to Identify IA Workforce in Accordance to DoDD 8570

Kansas City, MO, September 29, 2006 – The United States Navy Naval Medical Information Management Center (NMIMC) is to use WillCo’s IASTAR® online assessment tool for Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8570 compliance.  NMIMC will use WillCo’s IASTAR® online assessment tool to identify and align their information assurance (IA) workforce.

WillCo developed IASTAR® (Information Assurance System for Tracking Assessment and Reporting) specifically for DoDD 8570 compliance.  DoDD 8570 is the DoD response to the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA).  FISMA was passed in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to strengthen the federal government and affiliates information technology (IT).  IASTAR® will help NMIMC identify, assess, align, and track their IA workforce and then report said data in compliance with DoDD 8570.

NMIMC’s mission is to improve, develop, test, and disseminate quality IT with an emphasis placed on enhancing patient care.  WillCo is pleased to provide NMIMC with IASTAR® for their IA workforce identification process.
