United States Army Contracts WillCo to Use IASTAR® to Develop Army IA Workforce Compliance Program
Kansas City, MO, April 24, 2006 – The United States Army’s Army Headquarters Department of the Army Office of Information Assurance and Compliance (HQDA OIA&C) has contracted WillCo Technologies, Inc. to develop their information assurance (IA) workforce compliance program. The Army purchased 1,000 end user licenses to use in a proof-of-concept pilot program.
WillCo developed IASTAR® (Information Assurance System for Tracking Assessment and Reporting) specifically for Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8570 compliance. DoDD 8570 is the DoD response to the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA). FISMA was passed in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to strengthen the federal government and affiliates information technology (IT).
HQDA OIA&C will use IASTAR® to develop the Army IA workforce compliance program. The Army IA workforce compliance program is in accordance with DoDD 8570. The Army must identify, assess, align, and track their IA workforce and then report said data in compliance with DoDD 8570.
The HQDA OIA&C is responsible for the Army’s IA and compliance.
